Those in attendance at the Estadi de Montjuic on Wednesday may be treated to a preview of this season’s Champions League final as holders Paris Saint-Germain prepare to face Barcelona in a heavyweight showdown (8pm, TNT Sports 4).

Betting sites believe both these sides could go deep in the tournament, with the Spanish side currently the third favourites in the Champions League odds, just ahead of PSG, but behind both Liverpool and Arsenal.

Both sides won their opening game a fortnight ago, with Barcelona beating Newcastle United 2-1 at St James’ Park, while PSG secured a 4-0 win at home to Atalanta.

Barcelona have carried on where they left off last season, with seven wins and a draw from their opening eight games of the new campaign to sit top of La Liga, a point clear of Real Madrid.

The only points they have dropped came against Rayo Vallecano when Fran Perez cancelled out Lamine Yamal’s first-half penalty.

PSG have also started the season in great form. Since coming back from 2-0 against Tottenham in the Super Cup, to win on penalties, they have won six of their seven games since.

Their only slip-up came against Marseille just over a week ago, when Marquinhos’ own goal turned out to be the only goal of the game.

They currently sit joint top of Ligue 1 with Lyon on 15 points, but Luis Enrique finds himself short on numbers as he prepares to return to Barcelona.

Barcelona vs PSG betting preview: Title hopefuls can showcase attacking talents

This meeting will be just the 16th between the two sides in European competition, and they are separated by just one win, with Barcelona leading the head-to-head 6-5, while four matches have ended all square.

There are always a lot of goals, though, with both teams scoring in 10 of the last 12 matches dating back to 2013.

Since winning three consecutive Champions League games against PSG in the 2014-15 season, all of which were with Luis Enrique in charge and at an aggregate of 8-2 - Barcelona have only won two of their last six meetings.

The home side doesn’t have the best of records against PSG, whether it’s at the Nou Camp or Olympic Stadium, losing their last meetings at both grounds 4-1.

If Luis Enrique is to mastermind victory against his former side, then PSG will be the first team ever to win three consecutive away games against Barcelona in a major European competition.

Football betting sites are backing the home side for the win, and that is helped largely by the fact that Hansi Flick’s side have only lost one of their last 12 home matches in the Champions League, winning nine and drawing the other two.

Although that defeat did come against their opponents back in April 2024, and it was also the only game that the Spanish side failed to score at least two goals.

Barcelona vs PSG betting tips: Rashford back among the goals

With so many attacking options on display, bettors are spoilt for choice when looking at the goalscorer market for this game on betting apps.

Marcus Rashford scored both goals for Barcelona in the 2-1 win over Newcastle, while Goncalo Ramos has come off the bench twice for PSG to score in added time in Europe, first against Spurs and then again in the win over Atalanta.

Both Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha scored in each of the last meetings for the French side, while Raphinha scored three in those two matches, including a brace in the 3-2 win in Paris.

All three are expected to miss this one through injury, which is a huge shame, but it just gives other stars the chance to make the headlines.
