OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

The hotel is surrounded by country lanes and the popular Le Friquet garden centre is just down the road, with a cheerful cafe. Saumarez Park, the largest park on the island, is just a 15-minute walk away.

By plane: flights from London Heathrow to Guernsey take around 1 hour 15 minutes. The hotel is a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport.

By boat: ferries to St Peter Port run from Poole (3 hours) and Portsmouth (7 hours). Free parking available. Book boats.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

Get past the rather ubiquitous reception and you enter into a designed lounge and restaurant, which features room dividers made of branches and wallcoverings made of bark, along with velvet chairs and LED lighting. The arches of the terrace are adorned with hanging baskets and the garden bursts with colourful planting.

THE FACILITIES

The staff here are all warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The well-kept gardens are one of the hotel's highlights, as is the sheltered outdoor pool, which is masked by planting to remain private from the restaurant terrace. Inside there are games and books to keep you busy on a wet day.
