Arsenal vs Olympiakos best bets

Betting sites are high on Arsenal’s chances of Champions League glory this season and they expect them to make light work of Olympiakos at the Emirates on Wednesday (8pm, TNT Sports and Discovery+ app)

They opened their campaign with a 2-0 win away at Athletic Bilbao two weeks ago and would love a similar scoreline this time out against the Greek champions.

The Gunners netted twice in the last six minutes of Sunday’s match against Newcastle, when they came from a goal down to win 2-1 at St James’ Park thanks to goals from Mikel Merino and Gabriel.

That win keeps them second in the Premier League table behind Liverpool, and they are also behind the Reds when it comes to the Champions League odds. Liverpool are favourites to lift the trophy, just ahead of Arsenal.

They have lost one of their eight games so far, and that came against Liverpool, while they also dropped points against Manchester City as they were held to a 1-1 draw.

Olympiakos are unbeaten so far this season in all competitions with five wins and two draws from their opening seven games.

They have one point in the Champions League, after drawing their opening game 0-0 against Pafos and sit top of the Greek Super League, level on points with AEK Athens.

José Luis Mendilibar’s side will have to be at their best on Wednesday if they are to keep alive their unbeaten run against an Arsenal side who have won their last five group/league phase games in the competition.

Arsenal vs Olympiakos betting preview: In-form Arsenal too good for Greeks

This will be the 13th meeting between the two sides in all European competitions, and the head-to-head is neatly tied at six wins each.

Their last four meetings have come in the Europa League, and all have resulted in away wins, in fact, the Greek side have won on their last three trips to the Emirates.

Last time out was back in March 2021 when Youssef El-Arabi scored the only goal of the game, but the Gunners still went through 3-2 on aggregate.

The Moroccan also scored in the meeting the previous season, when he scored the winner in extra time to secure a 2-1 win and go through using the old away goals rule.

The Greek side have won two of their last three away games against English sides, against Arsenal and they also secured a 4-2 win at Aston Villa in May 2024 on their way to winning the Europa Conference League.

Their more recent form hasn’t been great, though, scoring just one goal in their last six Champions League matches, drawing one and losing five, despite attempting 51 shots, but just 11 were on target.

Arsenal vs Olympiakos betting tips: Gyokeres can open UCL account

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has scored just three goals since making the move to the Emirates for £64m in the summer, but recent performances suggest it may only be a matter of time before he’s a more regular scorer for the north London side.

The 27-year-old scored 57 goals in just 49 games for his club and country last season, including six goals in the Champions League.

Three of those goals came in a 4-1 win over Manchester City, which was one of seven hat-tricks he scored last season for Sporting.

Football betting sites are offering 16/1 on him adding to that tally on Wednesday, but there are plenty of other good options for him to be on the scoresheet.

Arsenal vs Olympiakos prediction 2: Gyokeres to score first - 17/5 Unibet
