The entrance, via an escalator from street level, harks back to Skt Petri's origins as a 1920s department store, designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen. A high-end hotel since 2003, it offers striking interiors, glamorous rooms and a cool garden courtyard, plus plenty of retail and entertainment options in the surrounding city-centre streets.

Skt Petri's bold approach to décor is in marked contrast to the neutral look in many Copenhagen hotels. In the huge lobby, cleverly designed to create different zones, the floor is dramatically patterned in bands of dark and light marble, and shades of green abound, from an emerald velvet sofa to an abundance of potted plants.

Hotel services include 24-hour valet parking, airport transfers, same-day laundry service and a concierge desk, which sells Copenhagen Cards and can help with reservations. There's a fitness room and relaxation area, with a sauna and steam room, and you can book a massage or physiotherapy session at any time of day.
