British furniture retailer DFS and the popular television series Grand Designs have joined forces to create a collection of living room seating that’s both sustainable and stylish, spanning everything from cosy cuddle chairs to velvet footstools and corner loungers.
Every piece in the collection has a sustainability angle, with all elements made from recycled or recyclable materials, including seat cushion fillings made from recycled plastics, reusable steel springs and fabric made from recycled polyester yarns.
As for the designs, there are four styles to choose from – kent, edinburgh, tenby and farnham – as well as a stylish accent chair dubbed the padstowe. Each features clean, contemporary lines in sumptuous fabrics. Swatches are available in eight different shades across three fabrics (chenile, weave and velvet), giving you plenty of choice for your sofa set-up.
While the aspirational feel and sustainability element might lead you to believe that the new collection has a premium price point, you’d be wrong. In an attempt to make its latest range accessible to as many households as possible, DFS has ensured that prices start from £449 and, as part of a partnership with Clearabee, they are also helping to minimise costs by launching a scheme where your old sofa can be collected from your home and recycled as much as possible.
