The trendy desk accessory has gone viral on the social media platform, and we can see why

In the middle of the global pandemic, TikTok has seen phenomenal growth. More than 2 billion people downloaded it in the first quarter of 2020, as they searched for new ways to distract themselves from the news and stay entertained.

Far beyond being a place for humorous videos, much can also be said of how quickly the video-sharing platform has created trends and impacted culture.

From causing a humble Revlon hair tool to reach cult status, to becoming the go-to platform for skincare advice (with products from the likes of Dr. Jart+CeraVe and The Ordinary heralded as must-haves), to promoting bum-enhancing leggings and even Premier Inn pillows, TikTokers share just about anything.

As such, we’re rarely surprised to hear of a new trend taking over, and we’re obsessed with this latest one too. As part of the ever-growing #aesthetic tag, users have found a way to take the look of their WFH setup to a whole new level: a colourful keyboard.

The hashtag #mofiikeyboard currently has more than 1.6 million views on TikTok, while #greenkeyboard and #pinkkeyboard have amassed 6.6 million and 4.1m views respectively. While green is seemingly the most popular colour choice – perhaps owing to the fact sage green is having its moment on the video-sharing platform – there are plenty of other shades to choose from.

All of the tags show users sharing their own unboxing videos, with TikTokers going mad for them.

As Gen Z’s fascination with nostalgia signals a return to basics, the retro desk item has been designed to sound and look like a typewriter. Plus, it’s a surefire way to refresh your WFH space and make sure your desk essentials don’t compromise your home aesthetic.

So, if the sound of this colourful keyboard piques your interest as much as it did ours, we’ve found the very device that has become TikTok famous, which might just give you the motivation you need to power through many more weeks of working from home.

You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

Mofii wireless keyboard and mouse combos

We’ve got TikTok to thank for providing us with yet another way to make sure our desk accessories don’t interfere with our interiors. And this is the exact keyboard making waves on the video-sharing platform, and we’re officially obsessed.

From the many TikToks we’ve watched, what we can tell you is that it’s been designed to sound like an old-school typewriter, tapping into the retro aesthetic Gen Z is obsessed with, while the pastel colourways add a cool-girl look to any desk space.

While we’re yet to give this one a try (it won’t be long before we do), it has received a 4.9-star rating, with one reviewer noting “I cannot rave enough about how amazing this keyboard is!” And TikTokers can’t get enough either, with one user noting “You don’t understand, I’m obsessed.”

The desk essential is battery operated (although these are not included) and connects wirelessly to your laptop, tablet or computer. It also comes with a coordinating mouse to make sure your space is as aesthetically pleasing as possible.

If you’re unsure about green, it’s also available in purple, pink, blue and multi-coloured, all of which will work to elevate any setup. Working 9 ‘til 5 just got a whole lot more pleasing.
