OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Situated on a private peninsula next to sister hotels Porto Elounda and Elounda Mare (whose facilities can be used), the hotel is just off the Elounda-Agios Nikolaos main road. The charming town of Agios Nikolaos is a 15 minute drive, while the small village of Elounda is about five minutes away.

By plane: flights from London to Heraklion take around 4 hours. A taxi will take an hour from the airport. Free on-site parking. Book flights to Heraklion.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The owner built the hotel wanting guests to see the sea from virtually every aspect. There's a mixture of styles: while the guest rooms have been updated, there's a more traditional and in places dated feel to public areas. The lobby/lounge area has exposed stone walls, sofas and armchairs and big windows allowing the light to flood in. Some walls display old tapestries. Some roofs of the accommodation have plants above them, but it's pretty high maintenance, so others have fake grass instead.

THE FACILITIES

The three hotels share ten bars and restaurants, Six Senses spa, two pools, water sports facilities, a 9-hole golf course, kids' club, football pitch, tennis court and shopping area. The Elounda Peninsula has its own small gym, sauna and indoor pool and there's a private beach.
