Namita Singh is a journalist based out of New Delhi, India covering Asia for The Independent. She has reported on various human rights issues from conflict-ridden regions of the country, including Manipur, Kashmir and Bastar. She specialises in longform interviews and feature writing, and has a keen interest in current affairs, gender rights, strategic affairs and legal issues plaguing the system. She was a part of The Independent's Stop the Illegal Wildlife Trade campaign, working to expose illicit animal trade in South and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining The Independent in 2020, she worked as a legal journalist for The Hindustan Times.
