14.32 Hove – Trap 2 Kilkenny Millie – 1pt
Kilkenny Millie made her Hove debut at the beginning of the year and after her first three races over the 285-metre journey she looked decidedly moderate.
She stepped up to the four-bend trip just over a month later and although showing a little more promise she was still struggling to get her head in front where it mattered.
The penny finally dropped on her ninth outing and she followed up on that success the next time out as well. Shortly afterwards, she went into her season and was subsequently off the track for three months.
Returning to the track at the end of July, it soon became evident that she was a whole different proposition to the bitch seen earlier in the year.
Two wins from four outings over the sprint, including a very quick time for the trip, saw her back to full fitness and she has since won two from four over today’s 500-metre course.
She looked better than ever on her most recent outing and a hat-trick looks within her grasp today.
A slight concern is with a couple of heavyweight dogs on either side of her, but Kilkenny Millie’s sectional times would suggest that she will comfortably clear her rivals by the first bend, which could set her up for another winning run.
19.56 Towcester – Trap 3 Unlikely Doohoma – 1pt
The lightly-raced Unlikely Doohoma has been going great guns since being switched to the 500-metre four-bend course at Towcester and there should be plenty more to come. The Seamus Gaughan-trained two-year-old started his career over the 270-metre sprint trip in the spring and although he was far from spectacular, he still managed to win in two of his four appearances over the trip.
He looked more than a touch unlucky when beaten half a length on his first effort over four bends at the end of July. None too well away, he showed good speed into the bend only to tangle with one of his rivals, losing a few lengths in the process.
He was back on the track a week later and despite finding a touch of bother at the first bend he turned in a reasonably handy spot before powering past a couple of rivals along the back straight. Clear by the third bend, he stayed on strongly to register an easy success, giving the impression that the best was still ahead.
A short spell on the sidelines followed but he returned with another impressive winning performance on 12 September and completed the hat-trick over course and distance a week ago, taking his career record to five wins from eight runs.

Unlikely Doohoma’s finishing times have also improved with each run over four bends and although facing a slightly tougher task tonight, we are backing him to continue his winning streak.
He is very much the sort who is capable of winning from off the front and is equally able to come from a little off the pace, so a clear run could be enough to see him in pole position come the line.
