16:30 Wolverhampton – Operatic Artist – 1pt @ 6/1

Operatic Artist didn’t show much on her debut for Ollie Sangster but stepped up a lot second time around, running third over the extended mile here. She didn’t travel as well as you’d like to see and now connections reach for cheekpieces, which I’m hoping will prove to be a positive.

The extra furlong should help as well, giving her time to get organised, and she has one of the more talented apprentices on board. The market is already figuring out that her chance is better than the earlier quotes suggested but I’m still happy to play anything around 6/1.

19:00 Wolverhampton – Bookmark – 1pt @ 16/1

Bookmark disappointed at Newcastle last time but it was her first start for a couple of months and came in an amateur riders’ race. She looks to be the second string of Mark Loughnane’s runners but finished a close third over C&D off 8lbs higher when last running here and could revive.

She did hint at a return to form at Haydock in September, closing up late on the back of a steady tempo where those up front were finishing fast. It wouldn’t take a huge step up on the figure produced there to get competitive in this and if they go a decent gallop, she can finish well.
