If you love soaking up every bit of entertainment you can get your hands on at home, be it a new Netflix series to binge or a classic film, you can enhance your experience with a soundbar.

Should they be new to you, let us explain. They’re long, slim speakers that provide high-quality, surround-sound-style audio without the complicated set-up.

Basically, it’ll make movie-watching on the sofa feel like a cinematic experience.

As these products pack in some pretty impressive, small-but-mighty technology, they don’t come cheap – you can spend thousands on one.

But we’re always on the lookout for a bargain – we’ve scoured through a range of tech retailers and found a Roku soundbar, called the streambar, currently available with £30 off.

It won’t last forever though, so if you’ve been contemplating buying one, this is your sign to add it to your shopping basket.

We’ve got all the details you need to know, including the features that will upgrade your TV-watching instantly.

You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

Roku streambar: Was £129.99, now £99.99, Amazon.co.uk

Available with £30 off until 23 March, the Roku streambar is both a streaming player and a soundbar, so not only will you get cinematic sounds, you’ll also be able to stream TV shows, documentaries, films and even videogames in high-quality 4K HDR.

You can enjoy access to streaming services such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Disney Plus, Apple TV, Prime Video, NOW TV, BT Sport and more.

It’s built with four internal speakers and has a volume mode that can adapt depending on what you’re watching – for example, it will quiet down loud adverts or boost the volume of voices when there’s lots of dialogue in a show or movie.

And if you’re a music fan you can also stream your favourite playlists using its built-in Bluetooth and Spotify connect functions. When parties are hopefully allowed in the latter half of the year, we predict this will come in handy.

According to Roku, to set it up you simply plug into your TV, connect to the internet and get streaming.

We’re already big fans of Roku here at IndyBest, and its streaming stick+ that’s also on sale (was £49.99, now £38.39, Amazon.co.uk) appeared in our guide to the best TV streaming devices and boxes for binge-watching your favourite shows.

According to our reviewer: “The remote has a dedicated Netflix button, which is handy. Its interface is straightforward and works smoothly. The range of channels is so extensive that it’s easy to spend considerable time just signing up to more – many are free or have a trial period.”

When it comes to picking something to watch, you’ll be spoilt for choice: Roku has hundreds of streaming channels, from mainstream options such as BBC and ITV along with stations dedicated to horror, sci-fi and more.
