A beacon of chic, the Bang On The Door babe is here to save 2021
Love it or loathe it, we’re here to inform you that Nineties style and Y2K-inspired clothing is making a comeback (yes, even low rise jeans).
But that’s not all. Groovy chick – the beacon of chic and arguably many people’s first fashion inspiration – is also back and better than ever.

It’s likely that millennials will fondly remember the good old days when the Bang On The Door character was emblazoned on everything from stationery and bags to bedding and pyjamas. Yes, we also had that inflatable purple chair.
And now, thanks to Daisy Street, your groovy days can live on. Following the success of the brand’s sell-out T-shirt range with Asos, it has answered our prayers and released a second drop of 10 T-shirts featuring all our favourite babes: from DJ babe to skater girl.
If the start of the year hasn’t been quite what you were expecting, we think groovy chick and her friends may just be able to save 2021 once and for all.
Whether you’re a self-confessed funky girl or you channel serious pop princess energy, there’s a T-shirt for every personality. Owing to the sell-out status of the previous range, we’d act fast to get one.
You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections. This revenue helps us to fund journalism across The Independent.
As the character that is the closest in resemblance to groovy chick herself, pop princess dons those purple flares that just about every Nineties kid longed for. With the contrasting coral square background, we’d order this in the size up and tuck it into straight-leg jeans to channel the character’s energy come 21 June.
Another babe we’ll be channelling when house parties with friends are back on the cards... even if your pals hate it when you take over the DJing reigns. We’re sure any millennial will be happy to wear this when the sun comes out – just tuck into a mini skirt à la DJ babe herself.
After spending 12 whole months relying on the online world to interact with just about anyone, we think net girl is a total mood. And this tee has inspired us to return to our Y2K homeware favourites and hunt down a lava lamp. A WFH desk essential? We think so.
If your ski holiday was cancelled this year, get prepared to rock this T-shirt at La Folie Douce in 2022. Before then, wear with your favourite lockdown loungewear and prepare to show it off on all your future Zoom calls.
If of course, you’re more of a snowboarder than a skier, there’s a design for your slope-side style, too – we told you groovy chick was here to save the day. The colours are sure to brighten your lockdown blues.
Consider yourself one of the fashion pack? This T-shirt that will cement just that – if only we could rock the style as well as those fashion girls can. We are obsessed with the light pink background colour that we think will go with just about anything in your wardrobe.
We’re not sure if we’ve seen on another planet girl before, but we’re here for her. Owing to the cosmic design, we can’t wait to introduce this one to our pyjama collection ASAP.
The funky girl merch was a particular favourite of ours, so we’re glad to see she wasn’t forgotten in Daisy Street’s latest drop. If she were a person, we think she’d be a carefree girl, so we’ll be channelling her energy this summer. Plus, her fashion choices wouldn’t look out of place at a festival, so we’ll be packing this when we finally make it to Glastonbury.
If you were a Nineties skater, this is the one for you – Daisy Street really has covered all the characters in its latest drop. A striking blue colour that we think would look great under a denim jacket, we can’t get enough of this design.
Wearing a bradigan (that’s a bra and cardigan co-ord), bliss babe is bang on trend. Owing to her athletic stance, we reckon this would make a great activewear piece that may just help you hit your next PB. Plus, bright pink is going to be a big trend this season, making this an ideal tee.
