The tinted moisturiser is available in 25 shades

Since Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017, it has been a real disruptor in the beauty industry, challenging other brands to look at their own poor shade ranges by releasing inclusive lines to boot.

Supported by business conglomerate LVMH, the brand set out to diversify the beauty world by creating a new standard of inclusivity. It kicked off by launching 40 shades of its coveted pro filt’r foundation, as well as its stunna lip line. Shortly followed by concealers, other lipsticks and highlighters in 2018, the singer was setting an agenda that rivalled long-standing beauty houses.

The latest launch from the make-up powerhouse is its ease drop blurring skin tint. As the brand’s first light-to-medium coverage complexion product, the tinted moisturiser is its lightest base so far. It claims to deliver Fenty Beauty’s famous flawless filtered effect you’ll recognise from the rest of the complexion range, but with a new type of coverage and finish – proving the brand’s “beauty for all” ethos remains strong.

The tinted moisturiser has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance this year, with brands launching new formulas thick and fast. This is likely to relate to our new working from home habits, but the no make-up make-up look usually becomes popular again by the time spring rolls round. They are great if you prefer a lightweight feel and subtle coverage, with some providing skincare benefits too.

The competition is strong, but Fenty Beauty’s new launch stands out on the inclusivity front. Compared to Glossier’s perfecting skin tint of 12 shades, Nars’s pure radiant tinted moisturiser in 13 shades and Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturiser in 20 shades, the blurring skin tint boldly showcases 25 shades that perfectly match the brand’s foundation range.

What is it?

A tinted moisturiser is a natural-looking, in-between product that offers a light coverage without the weighted feel of a foundation, as well as evening out the skin tone and texture.

Fenty Beauty has taken all the benefits of a tinted moisturiser, foundation and concealer and poured it into its latest launch. Housed in minimal packaging, the compact, prism design is ideal for traveling. The flexible bottle ensures that you can get every last drop of the formula with a fine nozzle making it precise and easy to apply with a brush or straight onto the skin.

The eaze drop blurring skin tint offers a formula that confidently translates a light to medium coverage, with a hydrating finish that’s perfect for a no-make-up make-up look. The buildable formula diffuses effortlessly on the skin, instantly blurring out any imperfections while delivering a smoothing texture to the complexion.

Formulated in 25 adaptable shades, the range spans from light with cool neutral undertones (1) to deep with neutral undertones (25), with a shade match tool helping you find the perfect colour for your complexion.

Does it last?

We tested the skin tint in various ways to really put it through its paces – applying with our fingers, a brush, powdered, unpowdered, with a primer and without – and it’s safe to say under each condition the eaze drop lived up to its name.

When applied with the fingers, the lightweight texture instantly blended into the skin with little effort needed. With just a pea-sized amount of product, the skin tint smoothed over any imperfections, texture and substantially covered any pigmentation. For those wanting fuller coverage, when applying more to the skin, the formula didn’t feel heavy or cakey but in fact added radiance while concealing areas of concern. We’d suggest using a brush in this instance to buff seamlessly into the skin. Unlike many other tinted moisturisers, this product works for oily skin too – we found it to be long-lasting, oxidating with the complexion to maintain a healthy and even finish throughout the day.

Drier skin types would find this a dream to use too, as the formula feels hydrating on the skin and doesn’t cling to dry areas. Did it live up to its humidity, sweat and transfer-resistant formula? We are still yet to find a complexion product that is completely transfer-proof, but this formula did a pretty good job, wearing beautifully and naturally throughout the day. We’ll be wearing this as the warmer months approach and the desire for a lightweight, breathable and illuminating complexion becomes our focus.

The verdict: Fenty Beauty’s eaze drop blurring skin tint

We’ve come to expect inclusive shade ranges from Fenty Beauty, but thankfully the formulation of its eaze drop blurring skin tint was equally as impressive. We love how versatile this tinted moisturiser is, as you can tailor the coverage and it suits all skin types. If you are a foundation fan through and through, don’t be put off by the light-medium coverage, as the buildable formula makes it a strong contender for the warmer months that are to come. Similarly, for those that love a minimal, barely-there skin tint, it covers all bases while offering the benefits of a high-impact foundation. Universal in skin benefits, everyone can use this skin tint and feel confident with the results. We just can’t wait to get out more to show it off.
