Over the course of her relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has provided style inspiration to her many fans.

She has consistently demonstrated her sartorial flair – from her formal, tonal dressing to the more pared-back uniform of late. And while she may no longer be a senior royal, her fashion choices continue to be just as influential.

Much like Kate Middleton, when Meghan is seen wearing pieces, particularly those from the high street, they will sell out almost instantly – something we predict to be the case for the foreseeable.

Case in point is when she stepped out of a hotel in Manhattan the day of her baby shower in 2019. Meghan was spotted wearing a pair of surprisingly affordable sunglasses from Le Specs, which were an instant sell-out.

The brand creates affordable statement shades, which are loved by fashion editors and celebrities alike, namely Beyoncé, Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. Founded on the principle of creating avant-garde, high-quality designs at affordable prices, it’s one of our favourite brands too, with Meghan’s pair landing the top spot in our review of the best women’s sunglasses.

Meghan’s black cat-eye sunnies are oversized with thick-framed lenses and feature a strip of gold-tone metal, making them timeless and versatile. But, the best thing of all is that they cost less than £50, which, for a high-quality pair of shades, is extremely affordable.

In honour of all things royal-approved, here’s everything you need to know about the sunglasses that you need in time for spring and summer (did somebody say “beer garden”?).

Le Specs air heart sunglasses

Australian brand Le Specs is known for its high-quality, statement sunglasses at affordable prices, and is a firm favourite with some seriously famous faces.

Meghan Markle was first seen wearing this pair of shades in 2019 for her baby shower in New York and, owing to their affordable price tag, they were an instant sell-out, with the brand struggling to keep them in stock. But, luckily, they’re now back in time for the sunnier weather.

The exact sunglasses worn by Meghan are made from black acetate and feature a gold-tone metal trim and come in a protective pouch. The design, which is available in three colourways, landed the top spot in our guide to the best women’s sunglasses when our writer reviewed the brown tortoiseshell frames (£45, Libertylondon.com).

“With proportions reminiscent of a cat eye, the thick tort frame and metal top bar inlay made for a sturdy feel. Large but not too large, and glamourous without being OTT, we can totally see why the celebs love them,” noted our writer. So, we’ll certainly be wearing Meghan’s favourite shades at every outdoor soiree we attend for the foreseeable.
