Amazon Prime Day 2019: What is the internet shopping event?

Amazon is cutting its monthly prime subscription rate from £79.99 to £59.99, just in time for its annual Prime Day sale, which begins on Monday.

The £20 off membership deal is available from now until Tuesday 16 July, and it applies to any new Prime subscribers, or anyone changing from paying monthly to annually.

To get access to the Prime Day sale, you have to sign up to the membership.

The annual sale starts on Monday at 8am GMT and will see big discounts across the site on more than a million products for 48 hours.

Aside from the benefits of having access to the sale, Prime Membership also gets you free, unlimited super speedy delivery, but also you can use its other platforms, including Prime Video where you can stream films and TV shows, it’s own music service Amazon Music, and download more than 8,000 free e-books for your kindle.

The first Prime Day took place in 2015 and lasted 24 hours, with each year following a similar procedure.

For the first time ever, Amazon's sale will run for 48 hours, making it the longest Prime Day yet.

If you're already a Prime member you will automatically get access to the deals.

Students can also take advantage of Amazon Prime Day by signing up for to Amazon Student.

Perks of the student subscription, which costs £3.99 a month, include the same services you get with a normal Prime account except for e-books.
