Aviation American gin, 70cl: Was £35.95, now £21.99, Amazon.co.uk

Calling all gin lovers: right now, you can save nearly 40 per cent on actor Ryan Reynold’s bestselling brand. Rather than being dominated by juniper like most gins, this Portland-based spirit boasts a balance of delicate and punchy flavours.

Chosen as one of our favourite celebrity alcohol brands, our (lucky) taster said, “The exceptionally smooth and complex small-batch gin is made with seven main botanicals, vaunting prominent aromas of sarsaparilla, sweet orange peel, coriander and lavender.” They praised it as an “outstanding” gin at an unexpectedly reasonable price point that’s now even cheaper thanks to Prime Day.

Johnnie Walker double black label blended scotch whisky, 70cl: Was £42.50, now £25.19, Amazon.co.uk

One of the biggest names in whisky, Johnnie Walker’s double black label is smokier and more intensely flavoured than the brand’s black label. It’s best enjoyed on the rocks to make the most of the spiced cloves, orange peel and vanilla flavours that cut through the smokiness.

We included the original black label in our article about women in whisky. Our reviewer said: “This bottle is a blend of whiskies from around Scotland that have all been aged for a minimum of 12 years. You should be able to taste rich dried fruit, a definite smokiness courtesy of the European oak sherry casks it’s housed in and, to finish, a touch of creamy toffee.”

Get your hands on Johnnie Walker’s double black label blended scotch whisky for an impressive 41 per cent off this Prime Day.

It has a “delicious blend of low and high notes, earthy spice and heady florality”, which “gives it just the kind of complexity that we love in a very dry martini”. Thanks to Prime Day, this will set you back less than £25 – cheers to that.

Jack Daniel’s old no.7 Tennessee whiskey legacy edition 70cl: Was £36.95, now £21.99, Amazon.co.uk

Get a healthy 27 per cent off the legacy edition of Jack Daniel’s classic, old no.7 Tennessee whiskey this Prime Day. Contrary to its usual black and white aesthetic, this version comes with an olive green and gold trim label to make it feel extra special.

We featured the regular edition in our best American whiskey roundup where our reviewer said that “The brand has ventured into new flavour territories, including honey and apple editions, but for maximum rock star credit it has to be the original no.7 and its mellow brown sugar, chocolate orange and charred spice flavours.” Nothing beats a classic, except for a classic with 40 per cent off. What are you waiting for?

Infused with natural watermelon and peppery basil, it’s said to be the perfect pairing with tonic water and splashed over ice or dashed into summer-ready cocktails.

The gin itself isn’t bad either and even came out on top in our round-up of the best Scottish drinks to celebrate Burns Night with. Our tester said: “Cool floral flavours drift among fresh citrus notes while hints of spice punctuate its smooth texture. The only downside? G&T lovers may struggle to find a tonic good enough to pair it with.”

When is Amazon Prime Day 2022?

The wait for the two-day shopping extravaganza is finally over – Prime day officially kicked off yesterday on 12 July, and carries through until 23:59 tonight, 13 July.

Traditionally, the shopping event falls on a Monday, so this is an unusual decision for the retailer. In another unprecedented move, Amazon has been dropping a selection of early deals in the weeks leading up to the event, the earliest it’s ever done so.

If you miss out at this event, it’s not the end of the world. Amazon is rumoured to be planning a second Prime Day event, or “Prime Fall Deal Event” as they refer to it, in October this year. Only time will tell if this event will materialise, but we have our fingers crossed.

Do you need Amazon Prime to buy Prime Day alcohol deals?

Anyone hoping to get any sort of deals during Prime Day – whether that be on fitness gear, tech or home appliances – will need an Amazon Prime membership, which seems pretty fair.

Amazon Prime membership costs £7.99 a month, or £79 for a full year. This drops down to just £3.99 for students, which isn’t bad at all considering you’ll have access to free next-day delivery, Prime video, Prime reading, Amazon music and even Deliveroo plus.

But, any true bargain-hunters will know you can sign up for a free 30-day trial once a year to reap the rewards of Prime Day for free. You do have to input your card details, though, so be sure to cancel your trial before the end of the time period to ensure you aren’t charged. So, if you haven’t signed up already, now’s your chance.

How to get the best deals

Here at IndyBest, you could call us sale experts – especially when it comes to the mammoth retailer that is Amazon. With thousands of products to sort through, and limited-time-only offers, our team knows exactly what to look for and what counts as a really good deal.

So bookmark our Amazon Prime Day page for all the latest updates.

You’ll also need to activate your 30-day free trial if you haven’t already. And start adding items you really want to your wishlist for easy shopping.
