Americans are racing across the country to make it home for the holidays before a "historic" Artic blast hits.

Around 200 million people are under extreme weather alerts, according to the NWS, sparking fear of travel chaos.

What's being described as a "bomb cyclone" is expected to hit the states by Thursday night (22 December) plunging the mercury even further.

This report shows the scene at Philadelphia airport as people scrambled to get home for Christmas.
