What happened at Trump's impeachment trial?

Donald Trump has been acquitted of one charge of 'incitement of insurrection' at his final trial in the senate. Although a majority of senators voted to convict, the prosecution failed to secure the 2/3rds majority required to secure a guilty verdict. But what happened in the senate trial and what does Donald Trump's acquittal mean for America? The Independent's US correspondent Chris Riotta explains.
