George RR Martin on ‘toxic’ fan culture: ‘I don’t understand’

George RR Martin has described how he “doesn’t understand” how fans of TV shows can “come to hate something they once loved”.

“I don’t understand how people can come to hate so much something that they once loved... If you don’t like a show, don’t watch it! How has everything become so toxic?” the author said.
