White House says wrongly deported father ‘will never live in the United States of America again’

The White House has said a wrongly deported father “will never live in the United States of America again”.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who was living in Maryland with his wife and five-year-old child, was deported by the Trump administration in March.

He was accused of being a member of the MS-13 gang and is currently detained at Cecot prison in El Salvador.

Garcia denies being in the banned MS-13 gang.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday (16 April) , White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said: “If he ever ends up back in the United States, he would immediately be deported again.”
