What repercussions will President Trump’s tariffs have on the UK?
The UK government is considering swiping back at Donald Trump’s tariffs after the prime minister admitted they will damage the UK economy on Thursday, 3 April.
“The president of the United States acted for his country, and that is his mandate. Today, I will act in Britain's interests with mine,” Sir Keir Starmer said of Trump's wide-ranging tariffs.
Analysts warned that the tariffs could “completely destabilise the UK car-manufacturing industry” and put 25,000 UK jobs at risk.
“When companies have weaker sales, they have no choice but to look at their cost structure,” an investment analyst at AJ Bell told The Independent.
