Dimitrov’s ‘unfortunate’ injury draws sympathy from Sinner
Jannik Sinner has wished Grigor Dimitrov a “speedy recovery” after he had to retire from their Wimbledon fourth-round match due to an injury.
Dimitrov was ahead 6‑3, 7‑5 when he collapsed to the grass, clutching his chest and appearing to suffer a pectoral issue on Monday (July 7).
Sinner, 23, checked on Dimitrov, 34, before seeking advice from the physios courtside. After stepping off the court and returning a few minutes later, it was confirmed that Dimitrov could not continue.
“It’s very unfortunate, as I said, on court and I wish him a speedy recovery,” Sinner said at a post-match press conference.
The retirement denied Dimitrov a potential upset over Sinner and a place in the quarter-finals.
