British pensioner stranded in snake-infested river rescued in Thailand
A British pensioner who was stranded when his inflatable kayak started to sink into a snake-infested river in Thailand has been rescued.
Martin Grant, 77, from Aberdeen, was dragged away by a strong current in Udon Thani province on Sunday afternoon (20 August).
The dinghy became stuck in mud, forcing the retired ex-pat to cling to a small grassy mound
Grant spent more than six hours waiting to be rescued before he was saved at around 11pm.
“It was quite an adventure. I’m really grateful to everyone who helped to rescue me. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend the whole night stuck there,” Grant said.
