Watch as large dust devil spins through residential area of US city

A man was left stunned after capturing the moment a dust devil touched down and span through a city in Maryland, US.

Josh VerStandig was walking through downtown Frederick on 24 May when he spotted the whirlwind.

He was able to capture incredible footage of the freak weather phenomenon, which is caused when hot air rises rapidly through cooler air and usually occurs in deserts.

Josh uploaded the video to his Twitter account and captioned it: “Casually saw a tornado in downtown Frederick today. Weird.”
