Angela Bassett’s reaction to being beaten to the Best Supporting Actress gong at the 2023 Oscars has caused quite a stir on social media.
The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star looked crestfallen as Jamie Lee Curtis won her first Academy Award for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Fellow nominees Hong Chau, Kerry Condon and Stephanie Hsu could be seen applauding as Curtis stood to accept the award.
Bassett’s reaction, however, has been shared far and wide on social media, with clips of the moment being viewed millions of times on Twitter alone.
