David Beckham has explained why his work with UNICEF will focus on empowering teenage girls.
The former England football captain spoke at the World Economic Forum on Tuesday (21 January) after accepting the award for 20 years as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
The 49-year-old revealed the importance of advocating for young girls.
Beckham said: “I want to focus the next few years on that, focusing on empowering them to live to their full potential.
“They should have the same right and access to as the boys.
“When you empower a young girl, it uplifts them, their families and their communities and that’s good for the world.”
