Taliban claims it has captured key border crossing with Pakistan

The Taliban has said it has captured a key border crossing into neighbouring Pakistan on Wednesday in what is a key strategic objective in their advance across the country as US forces continue to leave.

A local Pakistani official said Taliban fighters had taken down the Afghan flag at the top of ‘Friendship Gate’ at the border crossing between the two countries.

The key crossing is Afghanistan’s second busiest point of entry and the main link between its vast southwest and Pakistani ports.
