England footballers wear ‘empathy suit’ to experience dementia’s physical challenges

England footballers tried on a dementia “empathy suit” to experience some of the physical challenges faced by people living with the condition and raise awareness of its symptoms.

Kyle Walker, Ivan Toney and Jarrad Branthwaite wore a suit made up of 13 components that inhibit mobility, motor skills, vision, and hearing, and were asked to complete tasks including buttoning up a shirt and dribbling a football as part of The Football Association (The FA) and Alzheimer’s Society’s official charity partnership.

Video of their challenge was launched ahead of England’s friendly against Belgium, in which players will again wear shirts without names on the back in the second half as part of the campaign.
