BBC boss says Gary Lineker fallout is ‘real blow’ to programming

The BBC’s director general has said that the boycott which followed the suspension of Gary Lineker has been a “real blow.”

Speaking on Sky News, Tim Davie apologised for the disruption and how the row has impacted their audience.

“Success, for me, is Gary gets back on air,” he said, adding that there is “no debate” that he is “the best in the business.”

Davie said that “everyone wants to calmly resolve the situation.”

The football pundit was pulled from Match of the Day after he slammed the government’s small boats legislation in a tweet.
