Police confirmed a 14-year-old boy injured in the Hainault sword attack on Tuesday, 30 April, has died.

The young boy was taken to hospital after being stabbed and died a short time after, Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell said.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and officers are not searching for other suspects.

Officers were called shortly before 7am to reports of a vehicle being driven into a house in Thurlow Gardens area.

Witnesses spoke of shrieks and screams following reported stabbings and attacks on police officers.

An earlier version of this story said the victim was 13 years old. The Metropolitan Police has clarified that the boy was aged 14 and not the age they previously stated.
