Amazon workers win battle to form first US union

Amazon workers in New York have won their battle to form the company’s first US union.

Employees voted 55% in favour of joining the Amazon Labor Union, and is led by Chris Smalls, who spent the pandemic protesting against the current safety conditions.

“I hope that everybody’s paying attention now because a lot of people doubted us,” he said as he popped a bottle of champagne.

However, Amazon is disappointed, and the company added in a statement: “We believe having a direct relationship with the company is best for our employees.”
