North Sea oil tanker scorched after collision, aerial images reveal

New aerial footage shows the extent of the damage to the oil tanker which collided with a cargo ship carrying highly toxic chemicals in the North Sea.

The crash, which occurred just before 9:50 a.m. on Monday, 10 March, involved the US-registered Stena Immaculate transporting fuel for the US military, and the Portuguese-flagged Solong.

Footage shows damage to the US vessel, which appears to no longer be on fire.

The oil tanker was anchored in the North Sea when it was struck by the Solong.

The cause of the collision remains unclear.
