Travellers stranded in King’s Cross as station forced to close amid Storm Babet disruption
London King’s Cross train station was forced to shut down due to overcrowding, as Storm Babet brought severe disruption to Britain’s rail network leaving travellers stranded.
Train operators around the UK advised customers not to travel on Saturday 21 October due to widespread flooding, which has killed three people.
As train lines became widely inoperable, King’s Cross was forced to shut in order “to manage passenger numbers on the concourse and on platforms”.
Later in the evening, the station confirmed that “temporary crowd control measures had been removed”, while train operators were still asking people not to travel to avoid further disruption.
