Ariana Grande responds to the ‘holding space’ meme

Ariana Grande has reacted to the viral meme surrounding the phrase “holding space,” admitting that she was just as confused by it as everyone else.

During an interview with Cynthia Erivo, the two were told by a reporter that LGBTQ+ fans were “taking the lyrics of ‘Defying Gravity’ and really holding space with that and feeling power in that.”

Grande, visibly puzzled by the statement, responded with humor. “What the f***?” she exclaimed, before following up with, “What does it mean?”
