Michael Heseltine says Boris Johnson told ‘pack of lies’ over Partygate

Boris Johnson “told a pack of lies” to parliament, Michael Heseltine has said, launching a scathing assessment of the former prime minister’s behaviour.

Speaking on Sky News, he added that Mr Johnson resigned before the Partygate report was published because he “saw it coming”.

“We’ve had four days of this report and the story doesn’t change: Boris Johnson told a pack of lies,” Lord Heseltine said.

“Boris Johnson got out from under, he saw it coming, he knew he hadn’t a case to defend. So he resigned before the suspension that he feared could be relevant.”
