CNN reports 'survival of the fittest' conditions at Kabul airport

CNN’s chief foreign correspondent Clarissa Ward reports on harrowing scenes within Hamid Karzai airport in Kabul, as evacuation efforts continue in Afghanistan.

Footage shows Afghan men, women and children who have camped out for days “in the scorching sun” waiting to board planes out of the country. Ms Ward described how families separated in the crush of people attempting to enter the airport have no means of finding one another again once inside. “There’s no way to rescue anyone from the front gate, it is survival of the fittest” she said.
