Vets rush to aid of injured animals as wildfires ravage southern Turkey

Vets are rushing to the aid of injured animals as wildfires continue to ravage southern Turkey.

Fires have raged through the country since last week, so far claiming the lives of eight people.

In the province of Antalya, at least 77 houses have been damaged and more than 2,000 farm animals have died, Turkey's Agriculture and Forestry Minister, Bekir Pakdemirli, confirmed.

Farmer Nurten Almaz, 63, said she lost everything after losing her animals and her home to the blaze.

“I feel so much pain, like I lost a child,” she said.

The country has launched an international appeal for help in taming the fires.
